The celebrations commenced with opening ceremony held at METI on 15th February 2025, bringing together students from various maritime institutions i.e. Indian Maritime University (IMU), IMEI, Euro Tech Maritime Academy, KMSME (CUSAT), METI, and CIFNET in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
The event was organized by the Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) and coordinated by Euro Tech Maritime Academy.
Over the course of several days various sporting events, including Football, Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball, Table tennis, Chess, and Badminton (Women) were conducted.
The closing ceremony of NMDC Sports Meet took place at Euro Tech Maritime Academy on 24th February 2025, with Mr. J. Senthil Kumar (Principal Officer, MMD) as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Mr. Nishant Bhaskaran, Ship Surveyor/Dy. Director General (Tech), Kochi MMD; Mr. Babu Joseph, Executive Director, Euro Tech Maritime Academy; Capt. Biju. T. Varghese, Principal, Euro Tech Maritime Academy; Capt. Haridas K.K , Dean, Euro Tech Maritime Academy; Mr. Venugopal C/E, KMSME; Mr. George C/E, METI; Mr. Ashraf, IMEI and Mr. Ashiq, CIFNET.
Medals and certificates were awarded to the winners and runners-up. To mark the official conclusion of the event, the sports flag was lowered and handed over to Mr. J. Senthil Kumar ((Principal Officer, MMD) marking the successful conclusion of the event.
