As part of its ongoing commitment to industry-relevant learning, Euro Tech Maritime had the distinct honour of hosting Mr. Anil Jacob, Managing Director of Ocean Opt and Head of the Fleet Performance Centre at Bernhard Schulte Ship Management (BSM), for an expert session on one of the most critical topics shaping the future of maritime operations — Performance Monitoring and Decarbonisation.
A seasoned Professional Class 1 Chief Engineer with over 20 years of experience, Mr. Jacob walked the audience through the pressing need for decarbonisation in the shipping industry, highlighting how data-driven decision-making, fleet performance benchmarking, and the adoption of smart technologies are crucial to improving fuel efficiency and reducing environmental impact. The session emphasized how the maritime sector is rapidly transitioning from traditional practices to sustainable and transparent operations, and how data analytics and real-time monitoring play a pivotal role in reducing fuel consumption, minimizing emissions, and ensuring compliance with international standards.
The session, held on 17th July 2025 at the Euro Tech Maritime Campus, was attended by the Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) Batch of 2024–2025, along with the Head of the Department, faculty members, and instructors.
