Euro Tech Maritime Academy hosted the 63rd National Maritime Day Basketball Tournament on 26th March 2026 in the campus, marking a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and inter-institutional camaraderie. The event brought together talented teams from premier maritime and academic institutions, including Euro Tech Maritime Academy (EMA), Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI), Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (CUSAT), and Indian Maritime University (IMU).
The opening match was between EMA and METI witnessed a spirited performance by both teams, with EMA displaying excellent coordination and strategy to secure a well-deserved place in the finals. The second match was between CUSAT and IMU was equally engaging, with IMU demonstrating strong gameplay and emerging victorious to advance to the final round.

Final match between EMA and IMU proved to be the highlight of the tournament. Both teams exhibited remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship, keeping the audience engaged throughout the match. In a thrilling contest marked by intense rallies and strategic play, Euro Tech Maritime emerged victorious with a final score of 28–20, claiming the championship title.


The event concluded with a grand closing ceremony held at the campus, celebrating the success of the tournament and the efforts of all participants. The Presidential Address was delivered by Mr. J. Senthil Kumar, Principal Officer, MMD (K), who appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of sports in shaping discipline and teamwork among students.




The Executive Director of Euro Tech Maritime Academy, Mr. Babu Joseph, acknowledged the contributions and support. The winning team was awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance, while all participants were commended for their sporting spirit.


The ceremony also witnessed the presence of representatives from the participating institutes, further strengthening bonds of collaboration and mutual respect among institutions.
